The Maastricht Police Pipes and Drums emerged from the Police Maastricht.
It was founded in 1946 by the municipal police officers Maastricht, in leisure time and with borrowed instruments they made music. Later they got gala uniforms and instruments from the Maastricht population. On the helmet they wore a blue plume, which gained prominence in the Euregion and beyond.

In 1992, the Police Maastricht was disbanded and immediately was raised as the Regional Police Band of Police South Limburg. They got the new dress uniform, of the Dutch police. The blue plume, the trademark of the band remained.

However, the interest by police officers to make music in leisure time faded, so that the band was abolished in 2002. The members of the drum corps, however, always faithful and present at performances, did not stop. They got permission from the chief commissioner to continue as a Corps of Drums. End of 2003 two bagpipers were added and the band went on as a Pipe band.

The drummers still wear the gala uniform of the Dutch Police with helmet and blue plume. The Pipers wear Glenn Gary, with black and white checkered band of the British police. The Tartan that the Pipers wear is Gordon.

The band takes part in tattoos, Parades, celebrations and commemorations.
Some of the performances are:

Flag Parade at the Kings birthday. Street Parades for Tattoo Heerlen and the National Tattoo in Rotterdam, Veteran commemorations in The Hague and 60 years of liberation in Margraten in presence of  the  American President. Furthermore, the International Police Tattoo in Maastricht and Massed bands in Edinburgh and Normandy.
